Get Started

It’s never been easier to organize your media to enjoy around the home or on the go. In this short tour, we’ll take you step by step on how to setup QVIVO on your computer, build your first media library, then access it from any device running the QVIVO app.

Let’s get started shall we?

1. Sign in with Facebook

QVIVO is using Facebook’s sign in process to give you a simple, one-click way to join QVIVO. Simply sign in with your Facebook details using the link at the top right of this web page and QVIVO will automatically create your account and setup your first family profile.

2. Grab a Passcode

Now that you have a QVIVO account you can access the QVIVO Cloud Manager found in the middle of this page. In the Devices menu you will notice 10 device passcodes ready to use. These device passcodes will allow you to activate any QVIVO App and link them to the one media library.

3. Setup the Desktop Player

Download the QVIVO Desktop Player above and enter one of your passcodes. Choose a few media folders so QVIVO can start building your first media library. Add media to your library later by copying files to these folders or simply by playing them with the QVIVO Desktop Player. It’s that easy.

4. Upload Your Media

The QVIVO Cloud Manager allows you to manage your family’s media library, fix wrongly recognized media items and upload media to the QVIVO Cloud. Streaming media from the QVIVO Cloud is reserved for QVIVO Anywhere members so try a free 14 day QVIVO Anywhere account trial today!

Founders

Liam McCallum, CEO and Co-Founder

As Online Technology Director for Electronic Arts Asia Pacific, Liam McCallum was responsible for the web, digital distribution, eCommerce, DLC and online marketing teams across the region.

Jon Niermann, Co-Founder

Jon Niermann built his corporate entertainment career of over 20 years with The Walt Disney Company and Electronic Arts, serving as President of both companies in Asia Pacific.

History

The idea for QVIVO was formed when EA execs Jon and Liam were discussing how to stream personal media libraries through a game console. With a long career in media, Jon couldn't find a single product for his family to enjoy their vast media collection on any device. And as a tech geek, Liam was dismayed that despite all his connected gadgets the most foolproof way of sharing media around the home or on the go was still a simple USB stick.

In 2010 Jon and Liam left EA to build a product with the pick-up-and-play friendliness of a console game that gave anyone access to their entire family's media collection on any device, from a large screen TV to a small screen phone.

Funding

In 2010, QVIVO received $0.5M in seed funding from Vida Nova Ventures, a Hong Kong-based investment firm. QVIVO is currently finalizing it's Series A round of investment. Interested parties should contact investment@qvivo.com.

QVIVO members may only access their personal media collections through the use of their login details which include their username, passcode and/or Facebook login. If we discover a QVIVO member has shared their QVIVO login details publicly it is our policy to terminate their account immediately.

If you discover a QVIVO member has shared their login details on a publicly accessible website, chat room or message board please help us by emailing a link to the site, or screenshots of the message to misuse@qvivo.com and we will take immediate action.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA")

It is our policy to honor all takedown requests that comply with the requirements of the DMCA and other applicable intellectual property laws.

IMPORTANT: Misrepresentations made in your notice regarding whether material or activity is infringing may expose you to liability for damages (including costs and attorneys' fees). Courts have found that you must consider copyright defenses, limitations or exceptions before sending a notice. In one case involving online content, a company paid more than $100,000 in costs and attorneys fees after targeting content protected by the U.S. fair use doctrine. Accordingly, if you are not sure whether material available online infringes your copyright, we suggest that you first contact an attorney.

File an Infringement Complaint

a. If you are a copyright owner or an agent thereof and believe that any content infringes upon your copyrights, you may submit a notification pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") by providing QVIVO with the following information in writing (see 17 U.S.C 512(c)(3) for further detail):

i. A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed;

ii. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site;

iii. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled and information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to locate the material;

iv. Information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail;

v. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and

vi. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

File a Counter Notification.

If you believe that your content that was removed (or to which access was disabled) is not infringing, or that you have the authorization from the copyright owner, the copyright owner's agent, or pursuant to the law, to post and use the material in question you may send a counter notification containing the following information to QVIVO:

i. Your physical or electronic signature;

ii. Identification of the content that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the content appeared before it was removed or disabled;

iii. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or a misidentification of the content; and

iv. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the court in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and a statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided notification of the alleged infringement.

v. If a counter notification is received by the Copyright Agent, QVIVO may send a copy of the counter notification to the original complaining party informing that person that it may replace the removed content or cease disabling it in 10 business days. Unless the copyright owner files an action seeking a court order against the content provider, member or user, the removed content may be replaced, or access to it restored, in 10 to 14 business days or more after receipt of the counter notification, at QVIVO's sole discretion.
